Jahrtausendturm (Millennium Tower)

This tower was constructed in 1999 by Swiss architect Johannes Peter Staub as part of the Federal Horticultural Show.

The entire six-story building is dedicated to the history of science and covers some of the most important discoveries made in the five periods that it covers. On top of that, most of the discoveries have interactive exhibition pieces tied to them for visitors to view.

Initially, the exhibit was meant to be a temporary installment for the duration of the event, but it had such positive reactions that the city decided to keep it permanently. A park was built around the tower and the entrance was charged for upkeep.
