March 26, 2022, a date the watchmaking world will never forget and one that brings back to the mind of every enthusiast what happened around the world.
In fact, this is the day when Swatch, together with Omega, put on the market a watch we never expected, namely the MoonSwatch (I leave you our article here to relive the launch of the most talked about collaboration all year).
Almost exactly one year after the release of the 11 watches that brought many people closer to the world of hands, Omega and Swatch have just announced a new mission through a video posted on Instagram.

Looking at the video posted by Swatch on its social channels we can see the presence of a gold moon in Omega’s typical Mooshine gold shades.
This material, used in several models of the famous Speedmaster collection, was created by Omega in 2019.

It is an 18K yellow gold alloy that is inspired by the light of the moon in the night sky resulting in a lighter color than traditional yellow gold.
We cannot be certain what this new MoonSwatch that will be unveiled tomorrow, March 7, 2023, may look like, but it certainly will not be made from this particular gold from Omega’s house for obvious reasons.
What we can do to date is only speculate on what this new watch may look like.

If the two maisons were to follow in the footsteps of the previous models we might see a new Bioceramic model that could feature, in our opinion, a case similar in hue to the Moonshine Gold and a champagne dial with black subdials similar to what we saw last year in the new version of the Speedmaster with the same features.

Another possibility could be inspiration to the Speedmaster, again in Moonshine gold, but with a green dial and bezel.

Last hypothesis to consider, again looking at the Moonshine gold Speed line, could be the inspiration to the Speedmaster Apollo 11, 50th Anniversary (a hypothesis I would most prefer).
Supporting these ideas may be the fact that many MoonSwatches, as we have seen, have been inspired by models from Omega’s Speedmaster line in terms of details and colors.

Surely the moon, as in the “Mission to the Moon” model, will once again be the star even as it appears prominently in the video released by Swatch in a golden guise.
A final hypothesis in my opinion to consider, but this time regarding the case material, is that we may see the unveiling of a new MoonSwatch in steel.
At this point you might surely think that it would not make much sense, but this idea I got might be supported by the fact that Swatch has always produced quartz steel chronographs.
If this idea were true, we could then see a new MoonSwatch in steel with shades tending toward Moonshine gold (but consequently, we imagine, at a price well above the 260 euros at which the various models are now sold).
Everything we have said so far are just guesses that have come to us. Tomorrow we may see for ourselves what Swatch and Omega have in store for us this time.
The only certainty so far is that this new model will be directly presented at 4 locations around the world (7:00 pm CET): Paradeplatz, Zurich (Switzerland); Tokyo Stock Exchange, Tokyo, (Japan); Piazza Affari, Milan, (Italy); and The Royal Exchange, London, (UK)
It is not known whether the watches will already be sold at these locations (most likely not) or only presented and how they will be made available later.
Will we again witness rivers of people queuing up in order to grab the much-desired watch dedicated to the Moon? Honestly, we hope not.
For now, we will just have to update you once the new model is released to the public.
