Brennanstown Standing Stone in Dublin, Ireland

Ireland is a country that is rich in history and traditions.

Its glorious past is still being rediscovered, as many remarkable monuments and historic remains are being given new life. One example of this is the Brennanstown Standing Stone, which is situated in the middle of a contemporary housing subdivision in Cabinteely, near Dublin.

Rediscovered during some renovation works in the area, the stone was moved 656 feet (200 meters) east of its original location before being re-erected. It is made of granite and has a square shape.

It still has the same original NE-SW orientation. The structure was discovered and put into a small pit and supported by tiny packing stones. It was excavated by Judith Carroll ahead of the building work. Nearby, some cremated human bone fragments were discovered.
