The Confederate soldier monument towers over an aging portion of Old Gray cemetery.

It is only when you step onto the grounds that you begin to realize the size of Old Gray. Not only is it steeped in local history but it also has an almost hypnotic allure. Enormous hackberry and oak trees shade the cemetery, which dates back to 1850.

From the Confederate soldier memorials to the statue of the little girl—often littered with offerings of flowers and fruit—you cannot help but be overcome with curiosity and wonderment at the stories that ultimately ended here.
