In the world of luxury watches, there’s a brand that stands out not just for its exceptional craftsmanship, but also for its unique fusion of watchmaking and automotive passion. Singer Reimagined, a name that resonates among watch enthusiasts and car aficionados alike, is redefining the art of watchmaking with a highly personal and refined touch. This union leads the Maison to craft watches with a vintage soul but with an eye towards technical innovation and a surprising design form, a legacy of the bond with the automotive sector. And now, this magnificent brand is finally available in Italy at Pisa 1940.

The Genesis of Singer Reimagined

Singer Reimagined was born from the instinct of Marco Borraccino who in 2014, after working as a designer for several watch brands, decided to embark on his own project. In 2015 he met Rob Dickinson, founder of Singer Vehicle Design, and the connection was intense and immediate. Indeed, even though Rob’s work was primarily focused on the world of vintage cars, particularly in relation to Porsche, the world of haute horlogerie had always been a strong interest and attraction for him.

At this point, only one piece was missing, which arrived in the same year: master watchmaker Jean-Marc Wiederrecht, who immediately joined the project. Thus, Singer Reimagined was born, a very recent watch company, driven by a passion towards the world of manual chronographs from the ’60s and ’70s and deeply influenced by the functional design of luxury automobiles.

The Track1 – Where It All Began

Track-1 Singer Reimagined

Take, for example, the Track1 model. This watch is a marvel of engineering and design that embodies the brand’s philosophy. A design characterized by elegant but distinctive lines and a dial that expresses a vintage yet contemporary sentiment. The influence of the high-class automotive sector within the timepiece is immediately evident, but it’s never ostentatious, rather it contributes to a unique and refined character.

And the best is yet to come. Turning the watch over, the sapphire glass case back allows us to admire the Agengraphe caliber, specifically produced for the maison by Agenhor. A stunning manual chronograph with a central display where hours, minutes, and chronographic seconds are mounted directly at the center allowing for quick and immediate reading through the hands. The time is indicated by peripheral rings on the edge of the dial. It took nearly 10 years to develop this mechanism.

Flytrack

Introduced by Singer in 2020, the Flytrack collection splendidly showcases the DNA of the maison, doing so in a more minimalist and essential key. For this chronograph, the maison decided to focus predominantly on the role of seconds. The hours will always be indicated through a peripheral ring on the dial with an indicator at 6 o’clock, while the minutes are indicated by the specific central hand. The spotlight, however, is on the seconds hand which, upon pressing the specific button, resets to zero, ready to start as soon as the button is released.

This collection is divided into two: the Prime Edition and the Barista Edition.

The Prime Edition of 2020 focuses on the three most iconic variants of the chronograph: the tachymetric scale, the pulsometric scale, and the telemetric scale. Not only in function but also in design, which varies in each of the versions, maintaining the distinctive character of the Singer Reimagined watches intact.

In 2022, Singer introduced a completely new interpretation that quickly became iconic in the world of chronographs: the Barista Edition. A chronograph iteration that, if you will, recalls the Italian tradition of coffee, allowing you to measure the amount of time needed for the desired type of coffee.

1969 Collection

The 1969 collection is the latest arrival at Singer. A tribute to the year 1969 which was, according to the maison, iconic for many aspects: the first automatic chronographs, the moon landing, Woodstock, and the first Concorde flight.

The collection is produced in two variants that have immediately won great success among enthusiasts: Chronograph and Timer. One of the main features to note, for both versions, is the reduction of the case diameter. Indeed, if its predecessors Track1 and Flytrack featured a significant 43 mm case, the new 1969 collection brings the diameter down to just 40 mm.

An additional addition in the 1969 collection is an integrated bracelet characterized by links made of two parts: the main one is more angular in an H shape, with a brushed finish; the lesser one is rounder and is polished. The contrast between the different finishes and shapes of the bracelet parts creates an interesting play of light.

Timer

The 1969 Timer could be described as a more traditional and more compact variant of the Flytrack. In this watch, we find a traditional display of hours, minutes, and seconds, with the 3 hands at the center. However, as you can surely imagine, by pressing the button at 2 o’clock, the seconds hand with Flyback function returns to zero and begins to count the seconds again, allowing the user to measure short time intervals within the minute.

The watch is powered by the AGH6363 caliber, a reinterpretation of the iconic Agengraphe, designed specifically to be recessed within the new 40mm design. All of which makes this watch functional yet incredibly compact.

Chronograph

The Chronograph version showcases a new and intriguing way of presenting the watch’s indications for Singer. Staying true to its roots, the jumping hands of chronographic hours and minutes and the seconds are mounted at the center and refer to a sixtieths scale that runs around the dial. Non-chronographic hours and minutes are instead digitally visible at 6 o’clock thanks to two concentric discs and a triangular indicator.

This marvel is powered by the AGH6365 automatic caliber, a movement consisting of the beauty of 491 components and 56 jewels, with a 72-hour power reserve. And yes, although the view from the sapphire case back can be deceiving, it is still an automatic movement thanks to a hidden winding mechanism. In a way, in perfect Singer style, it is an homage to the undeniable beauty of vintage manual chronographs.

Final Thoughts

Singer Reimagined is more than a watch brand; it’s a symbol of the harmonious fusion of two passions. For those who appreciate the finer things in life, both the elegance of a classic car and the sophistication of a high-end watch, Singer Reimagined offers the best of both worlds. It’s a brand that doesn’t just measure time; it tells a story of passion, precision, and innovation that culminates in the creation of extremely distinctive products with a strong personality.
